As I know, according to background characteristics, this type of engine is well-known over the previous generation model. It's more refined, a little more economical and environmentally friendly. Engine perfectly balanced vibration on the steering wheel and gearbox stick completely absent and engine noise in the cabin is almost inaudible. From the driver point of view particularly pleased that 90% of torque is available over a wide rev range - from 2300 to 6100 per minute. Thanks to the proprietary system of variable valve timing Dual VVT-I, and of course, with the new 6-speed automatic transmission.
Smoothness and speed - these are the two words that I can identify as the main advantages of the automatic transmission. It is quite sensitive to the pushing of gas and easily adapted to my driving style.
Also I should notice that Lexus inherited technology of shift control - AI-SHIFT which means that the electronics continuously monitors throttle opening angle and vehicle speed, determining the vehicle is moving uphill or downhill. Accordingly, preventing unwanted switching to high gear in the first case, and providing "engine braking" - in the second, when it goes to the lower stage. Damn useful algorithm! In addition, everything happens as if gently, naturally, so that an inexperienced driver will not even notice that! Definitely recommend that car it is worth of money.
